Service Description

In my individual counseling sessions, I use a variety of techniques including: - Psychodynamic Therapy: Explore your past in order to help you become more aware of emotions and feelings that may be repressed. I will invite you to bring elements of your subconscious to your present awareness in order to shed light on patterns of behavior which cause pain and discomfort. - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Discover how your thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviors are all connected. We will explore how negative patterns of thought about your view of self, view of others and view of the world are impacting you, and challenge these thoughts in order to alter unwanted behavioral patterns. - Dialectical Behavioral Therapy: Develop skills that will help you navigate powerful feelings such as shame and anxiety in a more effective way. We will work together to help you unlearn reactive behaviors to these difficult emotions such as avoidance or running away, and increase your ability to sit in and learn from these experiences. - Mindfulness: Mindfulness helps us focus on the present and live in the moment. When we are mindful, we are more able to recognize what's happening internally (thoughts, feelings, sensations and impulses) as well as using your senses to tune into what's happening around you. Mindfulness is an integral key in being able to practice healthy coping skills when we are in the midst of emotional pain. I use these techniques and more in order to treat a variety of concerns including: - Anxiety - Depression - Attachment insecurities - Relationship strain - Emotional dysregulation - Low self-esteem - Peer relationships - Family dynamics - Life transitions
